The full cost of an asset over its life — including purchase, maintenance, energy, training and disposal.
Hardware purchase price is usually 40-60% of TCO. The rest is maintenance, software, energy, training and end-of-life processing.
TCO analysis is the antidote to "we got it cheaper on Amazon" purchasing decisions.
